The San Miguel Beermen are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The franchise is owned by the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) since 1975. It is one of three PBA ball clubs owned by the SMC group of companies along with the Star Hotshots and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. It is the most successful team in PBA history. Throughout its 41 years in the league, it is the only remaining original franchise in the PBA, leads the league with the most number of PBA titles – 21; most wins registered – more than 1,200 wins up to date; and also won the rare and most coveted Grand Slam in . It is also the only team ever to have won at least one title in each of the five numerical decades of the PBA's existence so far.
==Beginnings==
San Miguel Corporation was one of the nine companies which broke away from the Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA) in 1975 due to their dismay with the Basketball Association of the Philippines. This led to the formation of the first professional basketball league known as the Philippine Basketball Association.
